Scrabble Strategy for the Opening Move

For the game of Scrabble, you need to start your strategy before you ever make your first move or opening move, as it is commonly referred to. The reason for this is that by making a stellar opening move, you can boost your score from the very start! This may give you an edge over your opponent.

In this article, we will give you a couple tips to follow so when you do make your opening move, it packs a punch.

The First Move

The person who goes first typically has a bit of an advantage over the other player who ends up going second in the game of Scrabble. In fact, it is said that the player who happens to be the one who goes first has a 54% chance of winning the game compared to the one who ends up going second. This only gives you a slight advantage over your opponent, but sometimes you want to take all the help you can get!

The person who goes second has a bigger chance at getting the first bonus. This does not mean you can’t get lucky and be the one to get it, but just know that the odds are slightly stacked against you.
